Solidarity Fridge

We have a solidarity fridge and freezer at Blivande House!

We are currently finalising the last touches to our solidarity fridge and freezer. We hope to have a grand opening and start keeping them stocked in august 2022, so keep your eyes open for more news!

Once the fridge and freezer are up and running, everyone will be welcome to come and save food! The fridge and freezer will be outdoors and available at all times and we will fill them regularly with surplus food.

We will also expect you, as part of the Foodsharing community, to help maintain them. That means that when you come to collect food, make sure you leave them clean and without mess, close the doors properly, and if you can, take food that’s too far gone with you to throw in the compost.

Here are the tips we shared for saving food from our last solidatiry fridge. These tips will apply just the same to our new fridge and freezer!

Tip #1 Save food by collecting food from our solidarity fridge and freezer!

Remember that the food is saved and can therefore sometimes look tired and sad. Usually one needs to just remove the wilted/unhappy bits and it becomes completely edible again ????

Tip #2 Take care of each other!

You can take care of the other food savers by updating in the comment section of the post regarding the current status of the fridge and freezer.

– Have you just been there and seen that there was a lot left? Let us know! Feel free to take a picture even!

– Have you noticed that it is almost empty? Let others know so they don’t go there unnecessarily.

– Are you wondering what the situation is and see that no one has said anything in a long time? Ask!

Tip #3 Help us take care of the fridge.

Being a Food saver is taking responsibility for the food you pick up and the place you take food from.

– If you see that there is food in the fridge that has become really bad (ie everything or almost everything in a certain package is inedible) and you have the opportunity to take it with you and throw it away, please do so.

– If you see something has fallen out of the fridge, put it back.

– If you see that a box or the fridge/freezer is not closed properly, close it.
