Events & Folkkök

Events

We have regular distribution events of rescued food. We use a queuing system that allows us to give food away in a way that we feel is fair – you do not need to come early to stand in a queue and you do not need to be first to get the biggest and best pick of food. You do, however, need to put aside a bit of time to wait for your turn. We encourage everyone to chat with one another and get to know your fellow foodsavers!

We strive to have distributions every Tuesday (at 17:30) at Kulturhuset Cyklopen in Högdalen and every other Friday (at 17:30) at Fryshuset in Hammarby sjöstad. During the summer months, however, we tend to slow down and have much fewer distributions due to our food distributors closing for long periods of time for the summer and many of our volunteers leaving the city for the summer.’

Keep an eye out on our instagram and facebook pages for posts about upcoming distributions! We will always announce the next distribution. If you don’t see a new post on a Tuesday or a Friday, that likely means that there is no distribution that week.

Folkkök

In the spirit of raising awareness and fighting food waste, we also occasionally organise folkkök (folk kitchen) events where we create dinners using surplus food. It’s an experiment in improvisation and saving good food from going to waste. So please keep an eye out on our Facebook or Instagram for details so that you can come along to our next folkkök and see what interesting meals our chefs can come up with!

The dinners follow the concept of “pay-as-you-feel”, meaning that there is no set price for the meal. Please reach out if you have a potential location for an event and/or wish to volunteer to help to make an event happen!
